Ruben Staub
Clarinet Tutor
The clarinetist and composer Ruben Staub (*1992, Frankfurt am Main) explores a musical language that combines Jazz with influences of Classical, Contemporary and Global Music. After finishing his Bachelor of Music at Hochschule für Musik Detmold with Prof. Thomas Lindhorst he moved to Berlin in 2017, where he graduated with his master’s degree at Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler as a student of Prof. Martin Spangenberg in 2020.
Masterclasses with renowned artists such as Giora Feidman and Sharon Kam as well as lessons in Jazz-Improvisation and -Composition with David Friedman, Hayden Chisholm and Maria Baptist further shaped his artistic profile. After initial engagement in several orchestras including the Sinfonieorchester Münster, Dortmunder Philharmoniker and Kammerakademie Potsdam, Ruben decided to concentrate on his own musical language and composition instead. His works are studies of the space-in-between composition and improvisation that have been released with Sungroove Records and !K7 Records as well as broadcast in several radio stations in Germany.
On concert tours to India, Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Costa Rica and across Europe, he has worked with a vast number of musicians from diverse musical traditions. Incorporating his classical background with his recent exchange of unique cultural backgrounds - Ruben takes his experiences to shape his musical language.
