Dimitri Tisseyre
double Bass & electronic music Tutor
Dimitri Tisseyre is a multifaceted double bassist and electronic music producer whose career spans classical and jazz performance, electronic music, sound design, and film. His musical journey began in Washington, DC, in 1996, where he studied double bass under George Vance, blending the Suzuki and François Rabbath methods. In 2001, Dimitri moved to New York City to further his studies in jazz and classical upright bass with Nicholas Walker and Joe Carver at Stony Brook University. He refined his technique and expressive style through ongoing lessons with François Rabbath in both the U.S. and France.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Music from Stony Brook University in 2004, Dimitri shifted his focus to electronic music and sound design. He began by working on Off-Broadway shows and performing at local jazz venues before transitioning to the film industry. Since 2007, Dimitri has been a prominent freelance sound designer and recordist for TV shows and films globally, earning an Emmy Award for Best Sound Mixing on The Music of Strangers with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, among other prestigious honors.
Under the alias "Tissair," Dimitri explores electronic music, creating immersive soundscapes that blend organic and synthetic elements. This project showcases his talent for merging traditional musicianship with cutting-edge sound design, producing genre-defying works that resonate deeply with audiences.
Now based in Berlin, Dimitri continues to innovate from his studio while also teaching double bass, sound recording techniques, and music production. His experience and passion make him a sought-after mentor for aspiring musicians and producers, guiding them to unlock their creative potential.
